Interconnection Agreement

Gridlync land and infrastructure glossary.

An interconnection agreement governs how an energy project connects to the grid, defining the point of interconnection, responsibilities, and any associated land rights or easements needed to deliver power. It defines the upgrades each side must build, cost allocation, and operating requirements set by the utility or grid operator. Securing the easements for the gen-tie line to that point is often a parallel land-rights task.

Interconnection often requires its own easements alongside the project site. Gridlync tracks the related land agreements in one place.

Example

Sunfield Solar signs an interconnection agreement with Gulf Power fixing its tie-in at the Daleville substation and requiring a $4 million transformer upgrade, while Sunfield separately buys easements from two ranchers to route its gen-tie line to that point.
